Однажды я проснулась от бабушкиного крика. Выскочив из спальни в другую комнату, увидела, что бабушка на руках держит брата, который никак не реагирует на ее крики и плач.Я поняла, что Сережа умер, и в страхе выскочила в подъезд звать на помощь. Прибежали соседи, мужчины пошли в правление совхоза вызывать "скорую помощь", а одна из женщин — цыганка тетя Света — посоветовала срочно нести Сережу на край села к бабке-ворожке. Бабушка почему-то сразу послушалась и выбежала. Мы с сестрой — за ней.
Старуха долго не открывала, хотя мы стучали и в окна, и в двери. Когда открыла, стала кричать на нас и ругать. Не дав никому сказать ни слова, выхватила брата и хлопнула дверью. Бабушка хотела войти, но дверь была заперта. Прижавшись к бабушке, мы с сестрой заснули. Проснулись от громкого плача нашего Сережи. Дверь открылась, и ворожка вынесла орущего брата. Сама она была какая-то тихая и жалкая.
Бабушке сказала: "Береги его — умрет он не своей смертью. И запомни день его второго рождения".
На улице уже светало. Соседи и "скорая" нас ждали. Бабушка рассказала им о том, что произошло.
Став взрослой, я спросила бабушку об этом случае. И вот что она мне рассказала.
Приснился ей сон. Видит она свою дочь, т.е. нашу маму (она умерла в 27 лет от рака кишечника). Мама просит отдать ей кого-нибудь из нас. Подумав, говорит бабушке: "Таня (это я) старшая, она тебе поможет, Лену (сестру) ты очень любишь, отдай мне Сережу, ты же знаешь, как я хотела сына". Она подошла к бабушке, у которой на руках спал брат, осторожно его взяла и стала быстро убегать. Бабушка в страхе проснулась, стала искать внука, включила свет, а он лежит между периной и стеной и не дышит. Кровати тогда были с металлической сеткой, и он, ворочаясь, попал в щель и задохнулся во сне...
Бабка-ворожка вскоре после этого случая умерла. Соседкам она говорила, что все силы свои отдала нашему брату и жить долго не сможет. До сих пор не знаем, как она оживила его.
Сережа, слава Богу, жив, но мы, помня слова ворожки, переживаем за него.
